Virginia Audrey Treu
Virginia Audrey Treu, age 82, of Sparta, Wisconsin, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 20, 1930 to Warren and Clara Cronk, and born again June 1952 when she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She married James L. Treu October 16, 1948 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Virginia’s family was her pride and joy. She loved sewing, gardening, cake decorating, and had a gift for hospitality. She made and decorated hundreds of cakes for her family and friends’ weddings, birthdays, and many special events. Her family and friends will treasure many crafts for years to come that she hand made with her many talents. Her beautiful flower gardens and yard were stunning. She thought of others before herself and had a gift of making everyone feel special and welcome.
Virginia leaves an outstanding legacy for her family. “Her children rise up and call her blessed and her husband also.” Proverbs 31:28.
Virginia is survived by her husband, James Treu; 5 children, Bob (Mary) of Sparta, Lorraine Gerlitz (Stan) of Orting, Washington, Steve (Kathy) of Sparta, Gene (Carol) of Sparta, Pauline Luedecke (Gene) of Denver, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Walter (Sharon) Cronk, Calvin (Marie) Cronk, and Tom (Barb) Cronk; 6 sisters, Charlotte Semlar, Beth Treu, Carol (Bill) Hanson, Mary (Gene) Bridel, Shirley (Lloyd) Rhodes, Dorothy Erickson; sister-in-law, Bev Cronk.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Clara Cronk; 3 sisters, Margie Mahlum, Esther Kolbo, Gloria Cronk; 1 Brother, Jim Cronk; 1 Daughter-in-law, Dona Treu; 3 nephews and 3 nieces.
Thank you to Hospice and Oncology staff at Gundersen Medical Center, the Pastorial Staff of New Life Assembly of God and First Church of the Nazarene both of Sparta, and family and friends who offered so many prayers and support.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 720 Avon Road, Sparta, with Pastor Randy Williamson and Pastor Carl Hamrick officiating. A luncheon will be held following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Family and friends are invited to call at the New Life Assembly of God Church, Sparta, on Thursday, May 9, from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday, May 10, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

I know Virginia is going to be missed so much by her family, to whom she was devoted more than any woman I have ever known. She was a true Psalm 31 woman. She set a good example for many younger woman.
