William “Bill” Young
William “Bill” Young, 87, of Black River Falls, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, with family by his side. He graduated from Melrose High School then went on to earn a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music. Bill shared his talents with many as a music teacher and director of bands at the secondary and collegiate levels for 16 years. Following a career change he worked for the Social Security Administration until retirement. Midlife, Bill taught himself to play the accordion and began Vintage One, a one-man band. Bill will be remembered as a devoted father to his two sons and for encouraging them to be the best they could be, no matter the difficulty or special need.
William is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Lou; son, Bill (Junior) and extended family. He was preceded in death by son, Brian; parents Mabel and Lawrence Young; Siblings, Jeanette (Pederson), Mildred (Huber), Bert, Norman, and Darlene (Gomer).
A graveside service and burial will be held for the family on Saturday, December 4, 1:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Cemetery (Printz Creek Cemetery), 6775 Acorn Ave, Sparta, WI.
The cemetery is located between Black River Falls and Cataract.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Skyline Golf Course, 612 N 11th St., Black River Falls, WI. There will be food, fellowship and music to honor and give tribute to the life and music of William, “Bill” Young Sr.
