Harlan D. Hicks

Harlan D. Hicks, 80 years of West Salem, WI passed away peacefully on June 3,2020 at home with family by his side.

A son to Martin and Cecil (Van Riper) Hicks, and a graduate of WSHS. He served 6 years with the marine reserves. Harlan married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Kendhammer) and shared together as one for 61 years.

He has 4 children: Randy (Kelly) of Mindoro, The late Ricky (Connie) of Holmen, Russell (Lisa) and Rhonda (Tim “Muggs”) both of West Salem. He had 11 grandchildren: Caila (Mathew), Austin, Leslie (Andy), Stephanie (Randy Jr. “Bud”), Joshua (Barbara), Ashlee, Brain (Katy), Brandon (Jenna), Daniel (Shana), Desiray (Kyle). 13 great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, Matthew, Shane, Hunter, Dakotah, Ellie, Chloe, Jack, Koltin, Aksel, Maverick, Kinzley, Ryder, and Many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by 3 siblings Phyllis (Walter) Wuttke, Myron (Diane) and James (Bonnie) Hicks. 3 sisters-in-laws, Marie, Marie, and Patty Kendhammer.

Preceeded in death by his parents, in laws; Edward and Erma Kendhammer, Son Ricky, and grandson R.J., 3 brothers: Lorenzo, Laymen, and Merlin Hicks. 4 brother in-laws; Richard Clarkin, Edward JR., James, and Robert Kendhammer. 1 sister Welcome Mae, 2 sister-in-laws Shirley Clarkin and Donna Hicks.

After 30 years of over the road trucking he found spending time with his family was one of his greatest treasures. The laughter and smiles of the little ones always brought much love and happiness to his heart. He drove taxi for BNSF and Running Ride Share through his retirement years, but always found time to enjoy a game of any kind, especially cards and sharing a sip of moonshine! He filled our hearts with much love and compassion, his hugs, math skills, and driving traits will live on in us forever. Our wishes to you dad/grandpa is heaven is full of never ending western movies, cookies, and horse racing. “ Roll on daddy, till you get back home.”

A graveside memorial at Neshonic Cemetery on Wednesday June 10, 2020 at 4pm, and a celebration of life will be at a later date.

    Randy, Russell, Rhonda and Mary Ann, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your father and husband. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. My guess is the he and Ricky are enjoying meeting up again! Hope you all are well, and take care!
