Carol Ann Harding

November 9, 2012 | 3 comments

Carol Ann Harding, 73, of Holmen, WI, passed in peace on November 8, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI.

She was born October 29, 1939 in Prairie du Chien, WI to Gaylord and Nettie (Cherrier, Thompson) Weighner.  She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School and married her high school sweetheart, Wesley Harding in 1960.

She worked for many years in the financial services department at St. Francis Medical Center, retiring in 1994, and she was a member of the Holmen Lutheran Church.

Carol enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards, and spending many hours fishing with her husband.  One of her favorite things was her family’s annual trip up north to the cabin “Back of the Moon” on Bony Lake in Barnes, WI.  She treasured all the wonderful kitties that she’s loved over the years.   Her family will remember her most for all of the beautiful Christmas Eve family celebrations she hosted, her dry sense of humor, and her natural ability to give comfort when those she loved were in need.   She exuded patience, kind-heartedness, and love to her many friends over the years.  Although her health was failing, she was able to keep a hopeful attitude and dealt with her burdens with grace.

She is survived by her children James Harding, Lisa King, Lynn (Jim) Hagmann, Lara (Ted) LeRoy, and Bill (Jodi) Harding; and her grandchildren Jared Desjardins, Jennifer King, Wesley & Jaden LeRoy, and Lily, Connor, Ria, and Alex Harding.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley ;her brother Bill; and a granddaughter, Sarah.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the in-patient hospice staff at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital.  The tender, loving care they provided was a great comfort to Carol and her family.

Family and friends are invited to join her family to share memories and celebrate Carol’s life on Saturday November 17, 2012 at The Blue Cup in Holmen Square, Holmen, WI from 3:30pm-6:00pm.   Private interment will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Pairie du Chien.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.couleecremation.com.

Jim & family I am so sorry to hear about your loss my prayers are with all of you. I remember the good times with her as three of us close friends used to drive to Prairie du Chien on Wed. and play cards, laugh and drink coffee. I taught Jim to walk and we always laughed at that how he would do it for me but not her. We always chatted when I saw her at work and she was a remarkable lady. When I moved away I lost touch and that is my regret.

I’m so sorry to find your Mom’s obituary. I haven’t seen any of you in ages and most of you won’t remember me, but we used to be neighbors. I also baby sat Lara the summer of 1974 and your dad was my drivers ed instructor. My sympathies to all of you.

I have been looking for Jim for many years. I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of his mother and father. Jim and I were good friends up until I was 11 years old when we moved from Holmen, WI. I would love to hear from Jim if indeed he sees this so many years past his mother’s passing. My best to you all.
    Jeff
