Peter Joseph Schumacher
Peter Joseph Schumacher, age 64, of La Crosse/Sparta passed away peacefully at home on January 24th from kidney cancer. He was born May 2nd 1955 to Eddie and Val Schumacher in La Crosse, WI.
He graduated from Central High School in 1974. Peter married Maureen Rieber in 1974 and together they had two children. Amy in 1975 and later, Adam in 1978.
Pete worked at the La Crosse School District for 35 years as a Custodial Engineer. He worked the majority of his career at Logan High School.
He loved the outdoors and hunting, but his lifetime passion was fishing and being on the river. He love ice fishing in the shanty with his family and friends. Pete was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and loved having Packer parties in his garage. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed playing Santa for the kids at Christmastime.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen, daughter, Amy(Jeff) Zelley of La Crosse, Son, Adam Schumacher of La Crosse; Grandchildren, Cody(Nikki) Tanke, Miranda Zelley, Mallory Zelley, Khloe Schumacher, Scarlett Schaefer and Damon Tanke. Peter is also survived by son, Jason Stoll and his family of La Crosse; Siblings, Paula, Ron and Steve and many nieces and nephews.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Val; siblings, Jeff, James, David and Kristy.
The family thanks Gundersen Oncology and Hospice for their passionate care during the last 10 months.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 30th 2020 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska.

So sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. My heart goes out to his family and everyone who loves him. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish you all peace and comfort. Even tho our paths had not crossed for years Pete will allways be remembered as an awesome friend and cousin.

After the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories that we’ve shared with Pete. This is what keeps him alive in our hearts and in our minds, and they will continue to live on, through us. Our Deepest condolences to the Schumacher Family…
We are sadden of the passing of our friend and brother in law Pete. He will remain a memory in our hearts and minds of all the grand times we had together. We will love and miss you forever.

I will remember the times when pete and I would drive around to check out fishing spots ( sometimes we would even go fishing) and the many times we hung out into the early morning in his garage .pete is a great friend and will be missed .condolences mort,adam and family
This is goodbye but not farewell to my good friend and brother-in-law Pete Schumacher. He was a great father, wonderful husband and all round great character, we all are going to miss him very much. Our love and condolences to his family, no one will ever be able to replace him; visits to Wisconsin will never be the same again.
Here’s to you Pete we’ll see you again, you have the watch!

I’m so very sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. He was one of the good guys. My sincere condolences to the family… keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss. The world will not be as fun. There were always good times, laughter, and grins whenever Pete was around. Pete’s personality was infectious. He made everybody feel welcomed and included. He will be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. Always a great friend if the walls were talking I have so many stories of fun with Pete will be missed

Pete I Speak to you on behalf of all Logan Grads . Thanks for the pride you took in our school and looking after us when we might have made a mess . And even sometimes got into trouble . I will miss our talks at Past Times .
