Jeffrey A. Ceason, 74, of West Salem, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at Gundersen Medical Center (Emplify Health) in La Crosse. He was born July 25, 1951, to Dorothy (Pitzner) and Albert Ceason.

Jeff was known for his knowledge of local history, his offbeat sense of humor, timely jokes, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. There was nothing Jeff couldn’t fix, or at least take apart. He was an easygoing man who loved hunting, fishing, spending time on the river, feeding orioles, and his cat, Doofus.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Richard); his sisters, Laurie (Tom) Lane and Penny (Rick) Sullivan; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Nick, Briem, Peggy, Chrissie, Tim, Michelle, and Kari. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Ronnie Hill.

As a lasting tribute to his memory, his daughter, Jessica, has chosen to donate her portion of his estate to the Mississippi Valley Conservancy in support of its mission to protect the lands and waters Jeff loved so much. Those who wish to honor Jeff’s memory may also consider making a contribution to the Conservancy.

A private family service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
