Obituary
Jeffrey A. Ceason
Jeffrey A. Ceason, 74, of West Salem, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at Gundersen Medical Center (Emplify Health) in La Crosse. He was born July 25, 1951, to Dorothy (Pitzner) and Albert Ceason.
Jeff was known for his knowledge of local history, his offbeat sense of humor, timely jokes, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. There was nothing Jeff couldn’t fix, or at least take apart. He was an easygoing man who loved hunting, fishing, spending time on the river, feeding orioles, and his cat, Doofus.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Richard); his sisters, Laurie (Tom) Lane and Penny (Rick) Sullivan; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Nick, Briem, Peggy, Chrissie, Tim, Michelle, and Kari. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Ronnie Hill.
As a lasting tribute to his memory, his daughter, Jessica, has chosen to donate her portion of his estate to the Mississippi Valley Conservancy in support of its mission to protect the lands and waters Jeff loved so much. Those who wish to honor Jeff’s memory may also consider making a contribution to the Conservancy.
A private family service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

So very sorry, Jessica, to hear of your father’s passing. What a wonderful, caring daughter you are to donate your portion of his estate to the MVC in his honor. A special way to carry on his passion.
Mrs. Hollenbeck
Penny & Laurie
So sadden by the loss of your brother Jeff.
Family history, shared bonds will not fade. Seek strength in family, friends and faith.
Prayers are sent.
I remember Jeff when he and Mike Owen were the student managers of the Logan baseball team, back in the 60s. I was the bat boy for the team and got to know Jeff and Mike. Both were really good guys who were always good to me and accepted this 12 year old kid who was just happy to be there.
I occasionally ran into Jeff during our adults years and he was always friendly and kind.
God bless Jeff and his family. You have my deepest sympathies. (I also enjoyed reading his posts on the YOU MIGHT BE FROM LA CROSSE…Facebook page.
My heart felt condolences to you all at this sad news. I used to see Jeff whenever I was in his neighborhood. Having family there. I was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church growing up and got to know Fred and was so fond of his joking and fun teasing. Just know he is at peace with the Lord. God bless you all.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Jeff was always so kind to me.
