Alcurtis James Borsheim
We are saddened to announce the loss of our dear father, grandfather and great- grandfather, Alcurtis James Borsheim, 96, of French Island, La Crosse, WI.
Al, AJ, Albert, passed away at Springbrook Community of Onalaska on August 14, 2026. He was born on February 9, 1930, to Alva and Jeanette (Oyen) Borsheim.
He married Betty Pierce on December 6, 1952. Al was a carpenter all his life, building many homes on French Island and around La Crosse County. He enjoyed Golfing, playing cards, bowling, and watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers play.
Al is survived by his sons, Curtis (Karen) and Michael (Connie); grandchildren, Taylor, Kyle (Kim), Kirsten (Eric), Andrew, and Allison (Wyatt) ; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Aiden; brothers, Donavan, and Ken (Carol); brothers in-law, Ray Bjerken and Bob Henry; sister in-law May Borsheim; and many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; brother Gerald; sisters in-law, Rosie Borsheim, Lois Bjerken and Mary Henry.
Al’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice, especially Nikki and Sue, for the outstanding and personable care they provided him; and to all the nursing staff at Springbrook Community for the help and care they provided him during his stay.
A celebration of life will be held September 3, 2026 at the French Island Community Center, located at 617 Plainview Road, from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

I knew Al as the best carpenter I have ever known. Draw a picture, some rough size estimates and he built it. I met him in the late 1980s when he built the first of many pieces of library furniture/shelving for the Campbell Library on French Island. I don’t know how many pieces he built but they were all beautiful and a perfect fit. He also built a few items for me personally, for our lake home and our condo when we moved 10 years ago. He was 86 then…..I did not know that until now ! He was a true craftsman, plus being friendly, kind, prompt and very easy to work with. I will never forget him.
When I think of Al, I think of shennanigans and laughter. He certainly lived a full life and will be rememberd fondly. My sympathies to you all.
