Bonnie Yvonne (Bakken) Happel
Bonnie, born August 6th,1937, passed away quietly April 27th, 2020. She was born and raised in La Crosse and graduated from Central High School 1955.
She married William Happel and together they raised three children Lisa Happel-Prince (Rob), Amy Green (Sean), Carl Happel (Heather). She also worked as a home health aide. Beloved Grandmother to Samuel, Reva, Maxwell, Rachel, Jacob, Andrea, John, Zayne, Elijah and Elliana. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren’s events.
She loved music, singing, dancing, riding her bike and playing the piano. Going for a ride in the car, shopping and out to eat were a few of her favorite things. Most recently she enjoyed working on her Word Search puzzles. She loved us unconditionally and taught us by her own actions to respect people and the world around us. We have been blessed to have her for our Mother, Grandmother and friend. Bonnie had a quiet charm about her. She will be missed and remembered.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, William Happel; sister and brother in law, Shirley (Jack) Berg; mother, Edna (Seidel) Bakken, and father, Paul Bakken.
In Lieu of Flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank all the staff from Gundersen Healthcare, Willows and RBI Caring Hearts for helping to take such good care of her.
A church service will be planned for a future date.
The Happel Family have my deepest sympathy in the passing of their beloved mother, Bonnie. Since we both did home care we had something in common, I always enjoyed chatting with her and seeing her when she attended church with her son & his wife….she was a very friendly, sweet lady who will surely be missed.
