Bryan John Thompson

12/10/1958- 10/4/2026

Bryan John Thompson, 67 of La Crosse passed away peacefully at home on October 4th after a hard fought 5 year battle with colon cancer.

Bryan was born on December 10, 1958 in La Crosse to Jerry and Donna Thompson. He grew up in Onalaska, attended St. Patrick’s grade school and graduated from Onalaska High School in 1977. He followed in his father’s footsteps and went on to get his carpenter apprentice and worked alongside his father as a journeyman carpenter.

On December 21st, 1982, Bryan married Beth Mullally. They later divorced but kept their vows and remained close to the end with Beth as his caregiver. His fighting spirit was strong these past 5 years tackling cancer treatments with the ferocity of a former linebacker.

He was an avid sports fan rooting for the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Hilltoppers. One of his greatest joys was watching his kids and grandkids in their sports and activities. Always an athlete and a competitor he enjoyed playing sports and games with family and friends. He remains the Thompson family pool tournament champion and was skilled at almost any sport or game in front of him, even with a titanium hip and while battling cancer.

Bryan was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He would give you the shirt off his back as long as you came to him to get it. He had a strong personality and way of doing things that was uniquely his own. He never met a person he couldn’t have a conversation with. We will miss the laughs, conversations, and his ability to remember the past.

Bryan is survived by Beth Thompson, daughter Kristen (Dustin) Kufahl, son Andrew, and grandsons Charles, Owen, and Leo Kufahl and Masen Thompson. He is further survived by his siblings Richard (Susan) Thompson, Charlene (Shawn) Herrin, Laurie (Joe) Flannery and Mark (Natalie) Thompson as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Donna Thompson and in-laws Robert and Mary Ann Mullally.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors in the oncology department at Mayo Health and Agrace Hospice for their kindness and support.
