Obituary

Caroline Amelia Barge

May 15, 2024 | 7 comments

Caroline Amelia Barge, one of the most unique, exuberant, strong willed, brave and beautifully brilliant women in the universe left this earth peacefully, May 5th, 2024, she was 89.

Caroline was born on March 2nd , 1935, and raised in La Crosse, WI by Father, Henry Barge and Mother, Paulleen Barge. She was an adventurous being, strongly independent and marched to her own drum. Shortly after turning 18, she packed her bag and rode the train to Chicago, working in the Radio industry and performing within the Theatre. Her free spirit led her to New York City, California, and many magical places along the way before returning to her favorite little forever nook in La Crosse, WI.

Caroline raised three beautiful daughters, Shayna, Gretchen, and Ingrid. She loved being a mother and prided herself on giving the best experiences she possibly could whilst they grew. She continued showering her grandchildren and great grandchildren with magical memories, knowledge, love, and appreciation, just as she did her own girls. Caroline’s love for rocks, leaves, feathers, and all beautiful things in life is carried on throughout her family and will for generations yet to come. Her beautifully handwritten letters and cards were always stamped with her signature lipstick kiss, a spritz of her favorite perfume, and a specifically picked out dried leaf, which always brought a smile and a reminder to enjoy what’s around you.

Caroline A. Barge was loved by an unimaginable amount of people, not a single person could enter a room with her and leave without learning copious amounts, laughing, and gaining forever life memories. She prided herself on constantly staying “Fluid” and always continuing to learn and grow, much like nature, her true love, quoting “Nature is the supreme architect of the Universe”. She radiated Beauty, Positivity, love and deep connections with everything and everyone, a truly whimsical human being.

Later in life, Caroline became an Atheist, which was a very fundamental moment for her.
For a long time you were nothingness.
For a long time you will be nothingness.
But it was already so much
That between these nothingness
You were so much.

Caroline is survived by her Daughter, Shayna Prentice (Granddaughter Taylor), Daughter Ingrid Boone (Husband David, Grandsons Isaac, and Evan), Granddaughter Zelda Boettjer (Husband Curtis, Great Granddaughter Anneliese & Great Grandson Derick), Grandson Peter Prentice, Granddaughter Caroline

Prentice, Great Granddaughter Amelia, Nieces Sally Rusak and Patty Barge and many other loved ones she considered family.

Proceeded in death by Her Father Henry Barge and Mother Paulleen Barge, Brother Fred Barge, Daughter Gretchen Prentice and Granddaughter Emily Prentice.

Emily always talked how much she loved her grandma and I would always see her comments on Emily’s posts or when she would talk to her and I happen to be with Emily at that moment and the love this woman poured out for her family is undeniable. Even though I never met her in person she touched my heart through Emily. Condolences to the family … p.s give Emily a hug from her best friend.
