Charlotte Ann (Rugg) Knight, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, in Lewiston, Minnesota. She finished out her days in comfort and peace at her daughter and son-in-law’s tiny farm, surrounded by the comfort of family.
Born in Sparta, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late, Harold Rugg and Geneva (Hanson). She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Rugg and Donald Dean Rugg
Charlotte was a woman who brought warmth wherever she went, always quick to laugh and share a bright smile. She welcomed life’s adventures, finding great joy in boating on the Black River and Mississippi, losing herself in a good book, and spending precious time with her family.
Charlotte was married to Rodney Gudbaur, with whom she shared two daughters, before they later divorced. In 1986, she married Robert Knight, who preceded her in death.
Her legacy of love and laughter lives on through her family. She leaves behind her two daughters, Marcia (John) O’Duggan of Lewiston, MN, and Stacy Corbo of Bradenton, FL; siblings, Elaine Thompson and Dennis Rugg. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Jesse Wohlhoefer, Jamie Womick, Jaden Christner, Shae Tilson, Graham Brasic, Leland Brasic, Maeve O’Duggan, Sorcha O’Duggan, and Fionn O’Duggan. She also leaves behind eight cherished great-grandchildren and a special niece as well as a loving friend, George.
In keeping with her unique spirit and long-standing wishes, Charlotte’s family is planning a memorial service for next summer at Lake Itasca for her final adventure down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico—with a quick, final wave to a favorite cousin in Louisiana.
