Chien-Hung (Chris) Hsieh, 55, originally from Kaohsiung, Taiwan and residing in Onalaska, passed away peacefully on October 21st, 2023 in his home in Onalaska.  Chris was born on November 17, 1967 to Wu-Hsiung Hsieh and Shui-Chin Hsieh Chen in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

He married Ching-Yin (Daphne) Hsu on September 15,1999 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Chris’s favorite pastime was to spend quality time with his wife and two sons, followed closely by catching up with the news, in both Taiwan and the US, with his wife. He also enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Chris was an outstanding father who would always support his children in all of their endeavors.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Chris in his journey from childhood in Taiwan to raising two wonderful sons successfully with his wife in the United States.

Chris will be deeply missed by many communities, including ASHRAE. Chris chaired his local ASHRAE Government Affairs Committee and advocated for energy conservation, responsible refrigerant use and greenhouse gas emission reductions within the built environment. We are grateful to have worked with such a kind and dedicated community member. May his visionary work leave a sustainable legacy for many generations to come.

I am deeply sad and hurt by this news. I met Chris many times in school and at work; our kids are in the same school. Every time we met, it was always a pleasure seeing him. He always smiled, and we shared about our kids, their school, their progress, and our families. He was always a supportive, encouraging friend. I can’t believe we lost a beautiful soul. My heart goes out to his family—my deepest condolence for the loss of such a wonderful person.
