Obituary

Christine L. Wright

November 15, 2022 | 3 comments

Christine “Chris” Louise Wright age 66 of Holmen, WI; passed away peacefully in her home on November 11th, 2022. She was born on October 31st, 1956 to Ann Hedgcoth and Erie Hedgcoth with adoptive parents John and Louise Sherer. Christine married Matthew Paul Wright on May 28th, 1995 in La Crosse County.

Chris was so much more than a wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was a force and fighter from birth who loved her family deeply. She might have dished out a tough “pull yourself up from your boot straps” kind of love at times, but she always tried to be encouraging and kind as well. She loved the medical field, sometimes reading medical books for fun. She always encouraged those around her to take care of themselves.

Up until her health started to take a toll and having to take early retirement, Christine worked for what is now Mayo Clinic Health System for 20 years, holding positions in various departments. She adored the medical students she mentored.

She loved Egyptology, cooking, baking, shopping for purses, and spending time with family. Her best and most loyal friend was her pet Maltese, Minion. Mini never left Christine’s side, even at her death.

Born on Halloween, but Christmas was her favorite holiday. It meant family, food, decorations and the films like White Christmas and A Christmas Story. She loved to dance and rocked out to U2, 80s hair bands, and the song “Jesus built my hotrod” by Ministry.

Christine cursed like a sailor and was the feistiest person anyone could have met under 5ft tall. Her laughter, her honesty, and her wisdom will be missed.

Christine is survived by her husband, Matthew; daughters, Jana Boland-Windbiel, Tamara Boland, and Elise Smith (Matthew Ryan Smith); siblings, Steven Hedgcoth (Ken), Robert Hedgcoth, and Laura Schmitz (Cory); grandchildren, Devin Chestnut (Anita), Cody, Kayla, and Kessler Korish; great-grandchildren, Jessie Chestnut; aunt, Mary Walden; and countless cousins.

She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, John and Louise Sherer; biological mother, Ann Hedgcoth; step-father, Erie Hedgcoth; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Wright.

A special thanks to Edward J. Malone III, Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, St. Croix Hospice in West Salem, and Holmen first responders. As well as St. Patrick Catholic Church in Onalaska, Java Vino in La Crosse, Coulee Region Cremation Group, and La Crosse Memorials Inc.
