Obituary

Cory James Kaczmarek

March 17, 2023 | 11 comments

Cory James Kaczmarek of Onalaska, WI (formerly of Elroy, WI) is now at peace.  He sadly left us on March 8, 2023 at the age of 39, but his generous heart and quirky sense of humor will never be forgotten.

His spirit will be carried on by his mother, Julie Kaczmarek; father, Matthew Kaczmarek; sister, Heather (Mark Every); honorary sister, Amy (Olson) Ortner; niece, Naveyah Simmons; nephews, Payton, Cooper and Teague Simmons; grandparents, James and Betty Lobenstein and extended family and friends of every walk of life.  He was preceded in death by, his grandparents, John and Joann Kaczmarek.

Cory always had the highest head in the room, standing tall at 6’6.”  In 1983, he was basically drafted by the Bucks in Mauston, WI, fresh out of the womb on August 22.  Cory however, would have preferred to have been a Brewer or a Packer due to his love of those teams.

Cory was such a special man with so much love to give, that he was married twice, to two very special women; Rachel Dopson and Kandis Gardner.  He was an amazing father to his step daughter, Emmah Larson.

Cory had many accomplishments to be proud of during his journey through life.  He started post-secondary education, worked many years at APAC, earned a vacation to Hawaii due to his accomplishments at Sprint and recently received a promotion in his banking career at Marine Credit Union.  He was always tinkering with something or helping people.

Knowing Cory was knowing the best man in the world.  He was generous to a fault.  He would give you the hat off his head and boxers off his butt.  His philosophy on life was, “It doesn’t matter what you have, it matters what you give.”  Everyone loved being around Cory.  He made friends with everyone and anyone.  He could make a complete stranger feel special.  Although our hearts ache and we yearn to see him one more time, we can find peace with the impact he made on so many lives and the special memories he left us with.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, followed by a remembrance service at 4:00 pm.
