Obituary
Daniel “Danny” Gutierrez
Daniel “Danny” Anthony Gutierrez, passed away on Tuesday, May 14th, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the young age of 47. Born on August 19th, 1976, in Elgin, Illinois, he was the cherished son of Judy and Jeffrey Downing, Sr., and the loving brother of Norbert Gutierrez III, Joseph Gutierrez, and Jeffrey Downing, Jr.
Danny was the second oldest of four boys. In his younger years he was an active kid that loved playing outside and having fun with his brothers. As he reached high school, he was a great athlete and enjoyed participating in several sports at Montello High School, including football, baseball, wrestling, and track. Danny was a fun-loving jokester and was the life of the party.
As he entered his adult life, he fathered three children, Dylan Gutierrez, Adrian Gutierrez, and Wyatt Gutierrez. He loved his time with his children, and enjoyed family cookouts, riding the mower with the kids on his lap, watching sports, big Sunday breakfasts, and playing games.
Danny could make friends with anyone…he was kind, relatable, and funny. He could always make people laugh, was a great storyteller, and kept a smile on everyone’s face. It is a common occurrence to run into someone that Danny has crossed paths with and hear from them what a great guy he is.
Danny’s legacy will live on through the lives as others, as he chose to be an organ donor. This would be a very proud moment for Danny, and this is something that has brought his family comfort and peace.
Danny is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Katherine Bertram, his maternal grandfather Daniel Bertram, and his brother Norbert Gutierrez III. He leaves behind a loving family: his parents Jeffrey and Judy Downing, his brother Joseph Gutierrez, his brother Jeffrey (Kristin) Downing Jr., his son Dylan Gutierrez, his daughter Adrian Gutierrez, his youngest son Wyatt Gutirrez, two nieces, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
At this time, there will be no immediate services, and close family will hold a celebration of life in the near future.
Danny will forever live on in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. We know that he and his brother Norb will keep an eyeful watch over all his friends and family. We’re going to miss you Big Dan.
I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort knowing he is at peace.
God is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth give way and the mountains fall to the bottom of the sea. Psalm 46:1-2
To Danny’s family,
Patty and I have always had a lot of respect for your whole family! We won’t say we know how you feel but you have our sympathy. Danny was always kind, down to earth, and cared about others before himself. We will always remember how he treated others as he would want to be treated and he was a great Dad. We knew Dylan and Adrian; very respectable young man and young lady. May the God of all comfort be with you now and always. We will keep your family in our prayers. May He give you the comfort you need and those that have fallen asleep in Jesus are with Him now. God be with you till we meet again.
Your former neighbors and concerned friends,
Mark and Patty Emond Sr
