Darlene Claire Dayton

Darlene Claire Dayton, 78, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on February 21, 2021.

She was born on December 29, 1942 to Dallas and Corinne Olson. She married Robert Dayton on August 22, 1970 at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI.

Darlene was an active member of English Lutheran Church and spent many years teaching the 2 year old Sunday School class. She was also an active member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52, serving as treasurer and scholarship chair until the time of her illness.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Susan (Brian) Schall; son, Michael Dayton, and granddaughter, Raven Dayton. She is also survived by her aunt Shirley (Bud) Rogge and many cousins who were like siblings.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Corinne Olson.

The family would like to thank Gundersen Hospice Staff.

A service will be held on Friday, February 26th at 10 a.m. at Coulee Region Cremation Group at 133 Mason St, Onalaska, WI 54650. Pastor Becky Goche will officiate. There will be a visitation from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

    So sorry to hear this, Sue. She must have been a wonderful person and mom to raise a caring friend and teacher like you. Knowing you I’m sure she felt your love. I discovered she was married to your dad at my home church one year before my wedding. Wonder if I had met her as I was growing up there.

      Uncle Bob, Susan, Mike, & Raven ~ We are so very sorry for the passing of Aunt Darlene. She was truly an angel on earth, caring for family, friends, and the community with her whole heart. The way she took care of her family could be a manual for how to parent, and she always did it with a smile on her face because she loved her family so much. I know they loved her back as well.
