Obituary
Darlene Mae Harper
It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Darlene Mae Harper, who left this world peacefully on March 19, 2026, at the age of 86.
Darlene was born on November 30, 1939, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to the late Ted and Edna Jacobs. She was the beloved wife of the late Douglas Harper and a cherished sister to the late Joyce Klimek.
Darlene’s life was a tapestry of love, compassion, and vibrant energy. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Laura Randell and Linda Raper, and a treasured grandmother to a host of grandbabies, great-grandbabies, and even a great-great-grandbaby, who filled her life with joy and laughter.
A woman of many talents, Darlene was known for her exceptional skill in crochet, a craft she mastered with patience and creativity. Her hands were never idle, always creating beautiful pieces that wrapped her loved ones in warmth and love. In her quieter moments, she found solace in the meditative challenge of word search puzzles and the modern amusements of her tablet.
Darlene possessed a spirited love for adventure, often embarking on bus trips to casinos with dear friends. Her trips were not just about the thrill of the game, but about the camaraderie and shared joy of these outings, which she cherished deeply.
Her indomitable spirit and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will forever be in our hearts.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Agrace Hospice Care for their compassionate support during Darlene’s final days. “You will always be in our hearts,” they affirm, holding onto the love and memories that will continue to guide them.
A memorial service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held on April 3, 2026, from 1-3:00pm, with time of sharing at 2:00pm, at The Gathering Place, located at 133 Mason Street, Onalaska, Wisconsin 54650.
Friends and family are invited to gather and honor a remarkable woman whose life was a blessing to so many.
While we mourn the loss of Darlene, we also celebrate the love and laughter she brought into our lives. Her legacy is one of joy and resilience, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
