David Wallace Vissers

March 8, 2024 | 3 comments

David Wallace Vissers was born on March 12, 1973 in Miami, Florida. He was born to David William Vissers and Angela Thelma Gallegos. He had one sister, Monica Vissers. He peacefully passed away on March 5, 2024 in La Crosse, WI.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca and children David, Sarah, Ashley, Kayla, Nevin, Joshua, Hannah, Hallie, Chloe, Torvi and Odin. As well as cats Turd and Pretty and dogs Lincoln and Heimdall.

David graduated from Morley Stanwood High School. Immediately following graduation he joined the navy and served our country honorably for 6 years. David received his Bachelor’s of Science and spent many years in information technology. Starting in the early 2000’s David got a job welding and spent the rest of his life in that profession. In the mid 2010’s David started teaching welding and found his true passion. David said often the best feeling he could have as an instructor is watching a student struggle to understand a concept; and when they finally got it seeing the light of accomplishment in their eyes knowing he was able to help guide them to reach their potential.

David had many hobbies in his life including working on cars, woodworking, building models, cooking with his family, reading, watching movies and playing board games. He wanted nothing more in this life than to live peacefully surrounded by family.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street Onalaska, WI 54650. Military honors will follow at 12:00 p.m. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the family.

David was an amazing person and welding instructor. He cared. He showed patience teaching that trade to those formerly incarcerated so they could enter the workforce. His students loved him. He will be remembered and missed. So sorry to learn of his passing.
