Derek’s Fam,
I am so sorry for your loss. My heart truly goes out to your family during this incredibly painful time.
Derek and I were very close and spent a lot of time together. He was a steady and important part of my daily life, and in many ways he felt more like family to me. I will always be grateful for the time I had with him.
We shared so many everyday moments—talking, listening to music, watching shows, and laughing together—and those are memories I will always carry with me.
I’m also very grateful I was included in some of your family holidays over the years. Those moments meant a lot to me.
I know each of you had your own relationship with Derek, and I am truly sorry for your loss. He was clearly very loved.
With love and sympathy,
Kate
