Dominic Savidia

November 11, 2022 | 3 comments

Dominic Savidia passed away unexpectedly at home on November 4, 2022, in Goodview, MN.

He was born July 30, 1972, in San Diego, CA to Joyce (Tompkins) and Luis Savidia. As a child, Dominic enjoyed riding his bike and listening to music with friends, watching Saturday morning cartoons, and playing with his Star Wars action figures. He was a lifelong fan of video games, starting with Space Invaders on the Atari, eventually moving to the newest models of PlayStation. His biggest pride in life was becoming a father to his two daughters, Shauna and Brandi.

Dominic was an avid lover of animals and the outdoors; fishing, nature walks, the moon and night sky; and spending countless hours in the Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge. He was a talented artist and musician, teaching himself to play guitar and passing his love for nature and the arts on to his two girls. He could always be found playing his guitar or with some form of music playing in the background. Some of his favorites included Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Fleetwood Mac. Dominic was a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers and found himself at home in the “frozen tundra” when he moved to the Midwest in 2003.

He is survived by his two daughters; Shauna Savidia (Sean Walter), and Brandi Savidia (Vincent Pedretti), as well as his two grandchildren, Quinn Walter and Axel Pedretti. He is also survived by his father, Luis Savidia (Mi-Cha), as well as his siblings, and many other family members. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce; grandparents, Maria and Doroteo Savidia and Clyde and Marion Tompkins; mother of his children, Lee Savidia; and beloved cat, Cosmo.

There will be a private service held for immediate family at The Coulee Region Cremation Group in Onalaska, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Otherwise, please consider making a donation to Driftless Recovery Services in La Crosse, WI.

Shauna and Brandi, you have shown the qualities of strength that your Dad taught you. My deepest sympathy on the loss of your dad. He will always be in my heart.

    Shauna and Brandi:
Sending comfort through prayers for you on the loss of your Dad. I was his social worker when he was at Whitewater Health in St Charles. He worked so hard to get his memories back so he could be out in the community with you again. I enjoyed working with him so much. I used to give him “homework” on his down days–I’d have him make me gratitude lists. Top of the page every time was the two of you. He was so proud of both of you and his grandkids. I will always remember him and his love for you, his family. May you find peace in your good memories. Margi

Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for helping my dad. We did come across those gratitude lists. He saved them amongst the other activities you provided him. ❤
