Douglas L. Cornforth, 60, of Onalaska, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse.

He was born on September 23, 1960 to Dale and Deanna Cornforth. He married Holly Cornforth on November 14, 1987 in La Crosse, WI.

Growing up he enjoyed hunting, shooting archery, golfing, and playing billiards. He graduated from LaCrescent High School in 1978, and he went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Viterbo University. He found his passion working in the pool & spa industry. He dedicated over 40 years of his life to this career working for local small businesses including Paradise Pool & Spa and most currently Sebesta Pool & Spa. He enjoyed getting to know his customers and building life-long relationships over the years. He had a special bond with his co-workers as he considered them family. He took pride in being “Mr. Fix-it”. Anything in and outside of the home he could fix. Outside of work he enjoyed spending time with his wife, their two children, and Gus the Goldendoodle. He was always up for a weekend road trip and made sure to be in the stands at every sporting event for his kids. On Sundays, you could find him cheering on the Vikings. He enjoyed spending summers with the family up north. He looked forward to cooking and grilling for his family. He took pride in hosting holiday gatherings. Everyone especially looked forward to his famous, homemade ice cream. Doug will be missed dearly by those who were lucky enough to get to know him.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Holly Cornforth, children Sarah (Jonathan) Powell, Samuel Cornforth, parents Dale and Deanna Cornforth, Father-in-Law Clarence Rochester, siblings David Cornforth, Darcey (Lyle) Lemke, paternal grandmother Delores Cornforth, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Odin and Dorothy Gaustad, Paternal Grandfather William Cornforth, and Mother-in-Law Joanne Rochester.

Thank you to the wonderful team of doctors, nurses, CNAs, and other healthcare staff in Critical Care, Neurosciences, and inpatient rehab units.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at The Gathering Place at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home. In keeping with CDC recommended guidelines masks will be required for all those in attendance.

My sincere condolences to the family! Me and Doug spent a lot of time together in our youth, in school and after, playing pool, tooling around in his old Ford Pickup, and always trying to scrape up a few dollars to put gas in the tank. We were always running on “E” it seemed. I have a lot of good memories of those times. We had a lot of fun together and I miss his laugh and sense of humor. He was a great guy and came from a great family. I’m so glad that he found a happy family life with Holly and his two children. God Bless you all!
