Elrita E. Meyers, 87, of St. Joseph Ridge, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Mayo Health System in La Crosse.

She was born in Pine Hollow, rural Cashton, the youngest of 13 children to William and Apolonia (Schreier) Geier. She lived on the farm until, as a teenager, she moved to Cashton.

Elrita was united in marriage to Clarence Meyers on August 20, 1957, at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Pine Hollow and was a beloved wife for 57 years. God blessed them with four children.

Elrita enjoyed farming alongside her husband. Her pride and joy were her family and spending time with them. She also loved being outside and working in her yard and flower gardens. She was a member of St. Joseph Ridge Catholic Church.

Elrita is survived by her three sons, Jeffery, Terry (Dawn) of St. Joseph Ridge, Douglas (Joan) of Coon Valley; one daughter Susan (Dave) Lindvig of Barre Mills; one grandson Jake Meyers of Coon Valley; one step grandson Jason (Maricel) Lindvig of Barre Mills; two sisters Darlene Paulsen and Lavina Flock of Cashton and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence in 2015; five brothers Leonard, Lawrence, Clarence, Vernon and infant Robert Geier; and five sisters, Emma Luedke, Eleanor Crook, Margaret Prestwood, Rosella Oswald and Marie Gabel.

According to Elrita’s wishes a private Christian burial will be held.

A New Journey Begins…

There’s a place I’ve never seen beyond this world we know,

A place I’ve only heard of but someday hope to go-

It’s not on any map, there are no roads to take me there.

But it’s a place of perfect peace where hearts are free from care.

And though I understand some may be saddened when I leave,

One day, we all will meet again that’s what I believe…

When it’s time for me to travel there, I think, I’ll wear a smile,

I’ll say good-bye to those I love, but only for a while,

Knowing there are others who have traveled there alone,

Who cannot wait to greet me and to whisper, “welcome home”.
