Obituary

Eulonda Irene Roush

February 4, 2021 | 3 comments

Eulonda I. Roush passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27th at the age of 92.  She ascended to heaven with family by her side as the sun was setting in a clear blue sky.

Eulonda was born on January 10, 1929 to Ed and Hazel Stanley in the little town of Andover, MO.  She grew up attending the one room schoolhouse in Andover. The family moved to Blythedale, MO, to a wonderful big house while Ed served as postmaster and Eulonda finished 4 years of high school. This old family home was fixed up and occupied by her sister Yvonne and David Daniel who host reunions for the family.

Eulonda graduated from Maryville College and taught 2 years before moving to Des Moines, IA. She ended up working for John Deere where she met a young engineer, her future husband, William S. Roush. Eulonda and Bill were married in 1950 and had 2 sons, Bill Jr and Stanley.

In 1961 Eulonda moved with the family to La Crosse, WI where Bill began working for Trane Co. Eulonda loved the coulee region outdoors where she played golf and tennis, skied at Mt La Crosse, and went berry picking while hiking the bluffs. She loved to play duplicate bridge and was an antique enthusiast. After raising her two boys and sending them off to college, she entered the real estate business selling for Hoeschler Realty.  Eulonda went on to have a 40-year career in realty. She owned her own real estate business (First City Realty) and was honored with many positions and awards.

Eulonda was a master cook pulling together many dishes at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The family spent many holiday meals together with Sis, Ray, Mike, and Steve Hutson.  Reunions down in Blythedale also revolved around great meals with the simple ratio of 2 desserts for every side dish at dinner. Our family is blessed with fond memories of mom’s cooking and the times we spent together over the years. Most of all, Eulonda was the kindest, most gentle, and loving mother to her sons Bill and Stan.  She was a wonderful spouse and companion to her husband Bill. She was a generous and loving sibling to her sisters and brother. Finally, Eulonda Roush was respectful, kind, and loving to her parents Ed and Hazel Stanley along with all the friends and loved ones who came to know her. She will be greatly missed.

Eulonda is survived by her husband William, her son Stan (Kathy) Roush, sister Yvonne (David) Daniel, brother John (Carrol) Stanley, grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews with their families.  She was preceded in death by her son William Roush Jr.; sisters Lenna Jayne (Ralph) King, Bernedene (Wesley) Baker, Kathleen Stanley, and Adarene Stanley; and her parents Ed and Hazel Stanley.

Our family would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the hospice staff at Gunderson Health Systems for their support in our efforts to make mom comfortable in her last month with us.

A Memorial Service will be planned in May, 2021.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences

    Bill and Stanley –
We were just informed about Eulonda’s passing. She was a wonderful, warm human, and held a special place in the hearts of all us Luddens. The world was blessed that she graced the earth for so many years, and hope she’s playing bridge in Heaven with mom, Lyn.

I recall the sweet Eulonda my entire life as her son Stan and I were great friends, and fraternity brothers. She always made me feel at home and was gracious even though Stan and I were not always perfect young boys. She and Bill were close friends of the family both on and off the golf course. We will all miss that wonderful smile and warm heart.
