Gary Lee Halverson

Gary Lee Halverson, 84, of Galesville, passed away peacefully at home, May 7, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Winters Halverson.

Born in Winona, MN, October 30, 1939, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Marie Halverson. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eugene and Grant Halverson; sister, Joan Andow and daughter-in-law, Linda Halverson.

Mr. Halverson served in the National Guard and was called to service at Ft. Louis, WA, for a year during the Berlin Crisis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with family. Gary started his career with P. Earl Schwab, before opening his own business, Hilltop Construction, which he operated for over 25 years. Gary served for over 20 years as the Trempealeau Co. director to the AWSC.

Gary and Lois were married June 3, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church, in Galesville, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his 3 children, Todd Halverson, Leah Gilbertson (Larry), and Lisa Halverson (Larry Tamke); 4 grandchildren, Danielle Todd (Dave), Kendra Gilbertson, Nick Moga, Hana Moga ( Destin Petersen); great-grandchildren, Derek Tamke and Harper Todd; 2 sisters, Darlene Skroch and Merry Howe; and brother, David Halverson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 12:30 to 1:30pm at Tamarack Lutheran Church, in Norway Valley. A memorial service will follow at 1:30pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Coulee Region Cremation Center is assisting the family.

    Gary was such a nice man. Always had a smile on his face and funny story to tell. He will be missed. Our sincere condolences to Lois and the family, extended family and friends. Prayers for comfort and strength. Rest in peace Gary.
