Geraldine “Geri” Ann Mormann Harper, Viroqua Wisconsin

Geri passed away on January 16th, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Richland Center. Geraldine Ann Harper was born on November 13, 1947 to Jessie Mae Baldwin Mormann and Lawrence Joseph Mormann in Michigan. She was the second child in a family of eight. Geri grew up in La Crescent, MN, and attended school at Crucifixion Catholic Elementary School, Logan in La Crosse and studied accounting at Western Wisconsin Technical College.

She worked for numerous La Crosse area businesses, banks and the La Crosse Clerk of Courts. She was employed at the Quilt Basket in Viroqua at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh Harper, brother Lawrence Mormann Jr., and two sisters, Esther Waas and Agnes Ganrude. She is survived by her two children, Heather Miller, Richland Center, Wisconsin and Jay Rock, Albuquerque, New Mexico, six grandchildren, Jenna Miller, Matthew Miller, Brittany (Tanner) Nelson, Tristen Rock, Cheyenne (Nathan) DeNike, Alexis Rock, and five great grandchildren, three sisters Marcia Mormann, La Crescent, MN, Mary (Ed) Phillips, Mequon WI, and Kristi Mormann of La Crescent, MN and one brother, Robert (Penny) Mormann of Hokah, MN, She was loved by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Geri was an avid reader and especially enjoyed those featuring quilting and local history. Quilting was her passion. She also loved to cross stitch, for which she had won several awards at the Vernon County Fair including a blue ribbon. She enjoyed organic gardening on her farm outside of Readstown where she designed and built her dream home. A celebration of life is planned for January 28th at her home, 534 Prairie Lane, Viroqua Wisconsin from 1 to 4pm. A second celebration of life will be held on February 11th at her childhood home, 601 N 2nd Street, La Crescent, Minnesota from 1 to 4 pm. No matter what obstacles she faced in life, she remained stoic, strong and optimistic. She will be greatly missed.
