Obituary

Gretchen Paulleen Prentice

August 5, 2021 | 6 comments

In the early morning hours of Wednesday July 28th, 2021 our precious mother Gretchen Paulleen Prentice, A.K.A. Lenore Mirth, died peacefully of natural causes in her glorious art filled apartment in Onalaska Wisconsin.  She was Punk until her final breath… And wore her Antihero badge of honor with great pride.  A true iconoclast, Gretchen was a magnificent blend of light hearted whimsy, make-believe (nourishing her child within), As well as gravitating toward all things bizarre, peculiar, strange, and provocative.  Gretchen’s art offered a glimpse into her very being.

Born March 21st, 1963 to Caroline Amelia Barge and Joeseph Piere Vogel in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Gretchen is survived by her loved ones and their families: Mother Caroline, two sisters: Shayna Prentice, Ingrid Boone (David), Four children: Emily Prentice, Zelda Prentice (Curtis Boettjer), Peter Prentice, Caroline Prentice (Aaron Kerr), Grandchildren: Amelia Koresh, Analise and Elliana Kerr, Her Neice: Taylor Rogers, Two special cousins: Sally Rusak, Patty Barge, And by a large collection of rare and exceptional friends she considered family.

As Gretchen requested, there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Gretchen’s favorite local music venue,  The Warehouse, to keep the La Crosse music scene alive for all ages: Online Memorials –  www.WHROCKS.comwww.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/109899 – USPS Memorials – Warehouse Alliance Inc. 328 Pearl Street La Crosse, WI 54601

Goodnight our exquisite mother… You’ll be in our hearts always and our deep love and admiration will be yours forevermore.

Condolences
