Helen Marie Davidson (Nelson)

Helen Marie Davidson (Nelson), 76 years old passed away April 1st , 2022 at 9:28 pm at home, surrounded by 14 of her loved one’s and her 2 beloved cats Baby and Marmalade.

Helen was born on January 25th, 1946 in Black River Falls, WI to Dorothy and Lawrence Nelson.  She married Kenny Davidson on June 11th, 1983 in La Crosse, WI.

Helen was a devoted stay-at-home mom.  Her 2 daughters and her 3 grandchildren were her life.  She would and did do anything in her power for them.  She also did in home childcare for a number of children, but always had a very special relationship with Heath Nimmo and Holly Lodoen.

Helen loved Tigers and twice visited the National Tiger Sanctuary in Branson, MO.  She was an avid Elvis fan and enjoyed going to the Elvis Explosion every year in La Crosse.  She also got to visit Graceland and Elvis’ birthplace in Mississippi.  She loved camping and spent many a weekend camping with Teresa and /or her brother Roger.

When Helen wasn’t spending time with her family, she enjoyed playing Yahtzee and would usually get one or even 2 Yahtzee’s per game.  She enjoyed playing Solitaire and spent countless hours on her handheld game, or on her T.V.

Helen is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda (Sean) Hanson and Teresa Meissner; 3 grandchildren, Brendan Meissner, Cassie Meissner, and Logan Smizek; 1 great-grandson, Ryker Pierce; 2 brothers, John Nelson of Rockford, IL and Terry (Gloria) Nelson of West Bend, WI; 1 sister-in-law, Sibylle Weaver of Tacoma, WA; brother-in-law, Dave Davidson (Monica) of Chicago, IL; 17 nieces and nephews and many friends.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth “Kenny” Davidson; parents, Dorothy Annis and Lawrence Nelson; 4 brothers, Orlan Nelson, Roger Nelson, Gene Nelson, and Robert “Bob” Nelson, mother-in-law Elva (Lycan) and stepson Danny Davidson.

Her family would like to extend our love and thanks to Helen’s dear friend Nancy Ziesmer who was not only her friend, but also helped provide invaluable care for her.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at 11:00 am with a visitation starting at 9:30 am at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska.  Pastor Jeremy Walloch will officiate.  Helen and Kenny will be laid to eternal rest at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.  A reception will be held following the burial at The Gathering Place.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
