Jim passed away peacefully on Saturday Sept. 5, 2020 at Cedar Lane Lakeview in West Salem, Wis.  He was born in La Crosse to Fred and Vivian Rohrer on April 9, 1946.  He married Judy, his best friend and love of his life 53 years ago on July 1, 1967 in La Crosse, Wis.  In his early years, he was a Boy Scout, played baseball and golfed.  Jim was a 1964 graduate of Logan High School.  He attended UWL and River Falls College.  He was a conductor on the Burlington Railroad for 24 years.  After he retired, Jim and Judy traveled throughout the United States and Europe.  He enjoyed bike riding, camping and golfing.  His passion was deer hunting, turkey hunting and ice fishing.  Jim was an avid sports fan, attending his children and grandchildren’s events. Jim is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Heidi (Al), sons, Todd ( Gerilyn), Travis (Karen).  Six grandchildren Gabrielle & Mia Rohrer, Isaac & Maggie Schneider, Fred & Charlie Rohrer. Siblings Bonnie (Pat) Korish, Larry (Helen) Rohrer, Rod (Sandy) Rohrer,  John ( Teri) Rohrer, brothers-in-law Richard (Valerie)Mahlum, Paul Mahlum, sister-in-law Sandy (Greg) Miller,  many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Vivian, his in-laws, Manley and Ione Mahlum.  Our family would like to thank all of our family and friends that have supported us through this terrible journey.  A special thank you to Richard Mahlum, John Kraft, David Snyder, and Jacqueline Williams, social worker who have helped us out whenever we needed them.  A private service for our immediate family will take place.  Celebration of Life will be at a later date, due to COVID 19.

Judy and family, I’m sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I have fond memories growing up around the Rohrer family and how supportive and passionate Jim was in everything we did as kids. I saw that same energy in his eyes not that long ago at a playoff game that Travis was coaching in, and it made me smile inside. Thoughts and prayers to you all. Rest in peace Jim.

  27. Bud Miyamoto

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was such a great, caring, humble person. I have so many wonderful memories of Jim, his parents and siblings. Our junior high school sleep overs above their garage were very happy and memorable times. His parents were the kindest individuals to me growing up and in later years. Jim was a great Logan athlete and supporter of Logan. He loved his kids, grandkids and always talked about their athletic achievements. I especially enjoyed the times around a campfire, years later, up at Camp McCoy when we deer hunted. Jim always had the laughter that sparked others and the great stories that brought laughter.
My prayers go out to Judy, kids, grandchildren, his siblings, and extended family. I will always have a warm place in my heart for Jim and his family. I pray that our Lord will bring strength, and peace during these difficult times and that He will always provide Judy and family with many blessed memories that they will cherish forever, until they meet him again. Jim is in our Lord’s loving and caring arms.
God Bless Jim’s family and memory.
