Jim is survived by his four children: Mark (Gloria) Yowell, Tucson AZ, Gregg (Cindy) Yowell,  Lenexa KS, Amy Yowell (Rick Gerics), Brooklyn NY and Carrie Yowell, McPherson, KS; four step-children David (Patty) Uehling, LaCrosse WI, Jeffrey “Mark” (Kristi) Uehling, St Charles MO, Sharon (Walter) Bowen, Carrollton TX,  and Philip (Debbie) Uehling, Olathe KS; a brother Homer (Ruth), McPherson KS, and a sister Ruby Larson, Tucson AZ; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Margaret, his parents Roy and Grace Yowell, and his sisters Peggy Barker and Lois McNichols.

Jim spent his childhood on his family’s farm in McPherson KS, joined the Air Force after high school and was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka KS. Most of his professional career was spent selling heavy equipment throughout Kansas and Missouri, before moving to Onalaska in the mid 1970’s.  He married Margaret in 1984.  They enjoyed dancing and taking numerous trips to visit family in Canada, Kansas, Texas and Missouri.  In their retirement years, they spent winters in Tucson AZ as residents in the Wagons West community.  Jim’s hobbies included collecting antiques, especially watch fobs.  He spent his later years birdwatching and watching sports on TV.  He had a strong, Christian faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He will be deeply missed by all, but we are comforted knowing he is now home in Heaven in the arms of Jesus.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations in memory of Jim preferred to: Onalaska Firefighters Association, 415 Main St, Onalaska, WI 54650, or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Their website is t2t.org, click on “Donate Now”.
