John Gary Mayer, loving father, husband, brother, uncle, and son passed away on July 4th, 2018 in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Johnny was born in Black River Falls on April 8th, 1979 to Joseph and Marie (Erickson) Mayer. He married Jessica Lynn Gilbertson in Holmen, Wisconsin October 25th, 2003. They are blessed with three wonderful boys, Carson Allen, Logan Joseph, and Preston Michael.  Johnny served honorably with the Wisconsin National Guard from 1997 to 2009 deploying to the Iraq War 2005 to 2006.

Johnny graduated from Holmen High School in 1998 and Western Technical College in 2001 with a degree in Applied Science. Johnny worked at the Kwik Trip headquarters in La Crosse. He had previously worked at LHI and Fort McCoy.

Johnny was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, even building his own Packers man cave in the basement. He loved spending time with his wife, kids and family. Johnny seemed to know somebody no matter where he traveled. His friendly smile and outgoing personality made him somebody you wanted to get to know. He loved country music and dancing with his wife. Johnny loved and was loved by so many friends and family members.

Johnny is survived by his wife Jessica, sons Carson, Logan, and Preston. His mother Marie and sister Susan Christopherson and brother Paul (Kolleen) Mayer. His niece Jessie and nephews Alex, Trevor, and Derrick. Jessica’s family Mike and Cindy Gilbertson, sister Sara (Zack) Fellman with kids Gladdy and Wynn, and brother Chris (Annette) Gilbertson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph and brother-in-law Brian.

Johnny and Jessica always said they loved each other “to infinity” and the other would finish with “and beyond”. He will be missed by so many people especially Jessie, Little Koala, Mr. P, and little Logie Bear.

A visitation will be held on Monday evening, July 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 at the Holmen Lutheran Church, 228 Morris Street in Holmen.
