John J. “Chopper” Berzinski (70) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, October 6th 2023. He was born on April 26, 1953 to Joseph and Marjorie (Lee) Berzinski in La Crosse.

John was a 1971 graduate of Central High School. After high school John joined the Marine Corps for two years, returning to LaCrosse. After returning he met Becky and they were married on June 2, 1984. John and Becky had two children, Johnny and April. John enjoyed bowling, golf, softball and most of all horseshoes on the beach while camping.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca of La Crosse, son John M. (Carmen) Berzinski of Madison; daughter April Berzinski of La Crosse; his three granddaughters, Angelique Zieske of Milwaukee, Allicia Zieske and Alyvia Zieske both of La Crosse; sisters Carol Johnson and Diane (Tim) Oliver, brother Bryan (Joan) Berzinski all of Onalaska; brother in-laws Richard Thomas and Tom Boland both of La Crosse; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

John was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marjorie Berzinski; sister Gail (Berzinski) Thomas; nephew Tony Johnson; brother in laws Harry Johnson, Jon Boland and in-laws Myron and Marilyn Boland.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 22 nd at 2 pm for family and friends at the Moose Lodge 1932 Ward Avenue in La Crosse. Join us in watching the packer game afterward as John loved the Green Bay Packers. Coulee Region Cremation Group in Onalaska is assisting the family.
