Obituary
Juanita Mae Bakken
Juanita Mae Bakken, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Juanita was born on September 2, 1941, to Wilbur and Norma Neary. She lived a life filled with love, determination, and a strong spirit that those who knew her will never forget.
In 1960, she married David Seidel, and together they welcomed six daughters. Although they later divorced, Juanita’s greatest joy in life was her family.
Juanita had a passion for reading and could often be found immersed in a romance novel or mystery. It was not uncommon for her to finish an entire book in a single day. Those who knew her also knew of her love for trying her luck on the gaming machines at the Eagles Club, where she enjoyed spending time with friends. Juanita was never shy about sharing her opinions, and her outspoken nature often left her daughters rolling their eyes in playful embarrassment while out in public. These moments are now treasured memories that will bring smiles for years to come.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Carrie (Keith) Myhre, Nancy Johnson, Tracy Seidel, and Susan Seidel (Tracey Frame); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Cecilia (Rick) Loken.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Norma Neary; her daughters, Kimberly and Jamie; her sister, Ellen Valentine; and her brothers, Bobby Neary, Ted Neary, Billy Neary, Tommy Neary, and Bruce Neary.
Juanita’s family will remember her for her love of books, her unwavering opinions, her sense of humor, and the deep love she had for her family.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. The family asks that she be remembered in the quiet moments spent enjoying a good book, sharing stories with loved ones, or embracing life with the same spirited determination that Juanita carried throughout her years.
Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family with arrangements.
