Judith Ann Shepherd
In Loving Memory of Judith “Judi” Shepherd
Judith “Judi” Shepherd peacefully passed away on November 26, 2024, at the age of 81. Judi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister whose love for her family, friends and animals was unmatched. Her kindness, generosity, and deep compassion will be remembered forever.
Judi was born on May 5, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late James and Helen Moen. She lived in Chicago until, as a young adult, she moved to California where she met her future husband, Mike. Their love story was one friendship, mutual respect, and shared adventures of 56 years. They lived in California, enjoying many outdoor activities such as camping and riding motorcycles until 1972 when they moved to the La Crosse area.
Judi retired from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse after working there for thirty years in a variety of departments.
Judi greatly loved her family. She was very close to her grandchildren Olivia and Jacob, her niece Hannah and nephew Eric. As a mother, she was nurturing, strong and endlessly loving. She instilled in her family a deep sense of empathy and respect for all living things, and was a great lover of all animals.
Judi is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Brooke, son-in-law Matt, her grandchildren Olivia and Jacob, brother Dan, sister-in-law Kari and a host of extended family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A private celebration will be held in honor of Judi’s life in the spring with her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the La Crosse Humane Society, an organization where Judi volunteered and supported throughout her life.
Judi’s legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to animals will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was truly one of a kind, and while we mourn her passing, we take comfort knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved family and pets who went before her. Rest in peace, Judi. You are deeply loved, and will be remembered always.
Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.

I was very sad to hear of Judi’s passing. I will miss her so much. I will miss her positive and cheerful attitude. I especially enjoyed her interesting and newsy Christmas letters. I will treasure the times we spent together when they were “Snowbirds” at Gold Canyon, AZ. These are some of my memories of Judi I will always hold dear
