Justus (Fuzzy)Xavier Heise 15, beloved son, brother and uncle, born on March 18,2009, passed away on May 22, 2024 after a 9.5 year brave and courageous cancer fight at Gundersen Health Systems hospital.

Justus is survived by his parents, David and Natalie Heise, 4 brothers Nick (Heather Brayden, Tessa and Abbey)of Cochrane, Wi Jordan (Becca, Jake and Ethan) of Decorah IA, CJ and Carter of Galesville WI, 5 sisters Jenae (Leah) of Winona, MN, Marcy, Mikaylea, Sofia and Piper of Galesville WI, A maternal grandmother Patricia Daubs of SunPrarie WI, and his beloved niece Annie along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nate and Mary Heise and his maternal grandfather Michael Daubs.

Justus was an amazing and devoted friend to so many and graduated 8th grade on May 18, 2024.  Throughout Justus cancer battle he inspired many people with his strength and determination. As Justus continued to fight for his life, he was fierce and never complained but was always humble and thinking of others.  His character was honored as he was a Children’s Miracle Network hero in 2017 and a CMN National hero in 2023.

He loved all things video games, which was his go to distraction, but would choose being with friends and family first.  He also loved vacationing with his family and had the trip of his lifetime traveling to Switzerland in 2017.

If we all can learn one thing through the tragedy of his young life cut way to short is to always love big and live in the moment…because tomorrow isn’t promised.

The family wishes to extend a huge thank you to all the medical staff at Gundersen who so lovingly cared for him thru the years, with a special Thank you to Dr. Jennifer Orozco, Angela Everson and Cheri Hill, who were his medical team from the beginning and His hospice nurse Jason Mowery, all the staff and students at Coulee Christian and La Crescent Hokah Schools, the staff at CMN and all the many friends and family who never gave up!

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at First Free Church, 123 Mason St., Onalaska.  Visitation will from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family to use at a later date.

Justus has made a difference in so many lives. I’m grateful to have known him while he was at Coulee Christian. Each time he was seen in the health office he always remained positive. He was a wonderful guy to have around. Always with a smile on his face no matter what he was facing. My heart aches with you.

That was a beautifully written tribute to him. It must have bern so painful to write. I love Justus and each of you. He was incredibly strong and is the definition of perseverance. He has parents who walked alongside of him sharing every pain and celebrating all his moments. His siblings shared in it all too. I love you, Auntie Honey.

    Justus,
I got the honor of spending time with you and your family at the lighthouse retreat in Florida with my daughter Hailey and son Gavin. Though your story reminded me of my son’s battles, it was a healing and eye opening experience to spend that week with you. It was if your family helped me more than we were there to serve you. You will be missed, but your memory will live on. You will not be forgotten…our love to you through our tears of sadness knowing we will have to wait to see you again. Love you Justus Heise
