Karen Ingeborg Moe, age 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 7, 2026.
Karen was born on April 17, 1932, in Viroqua to Harold and Odella Johnson. She graduated from Central High School in La Crosse and later married the love of her life, Friend R. Moe, on April 16, 1952. Together they built a life centered around family, laughter, adventure, and cherished memories.
Karen enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband, casino outings, bingo, wine trips, listening to live music, and reminiscing about childhood memories. Above all else, she treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and the many generations of family she loved so deeply.
Throughout her life, she worked in a variety of roles at The Dime Store, Nobels Shoe Store, Magic Mirror Beauty Shop, Airport Restaurant, Fisherman’s Diner, and finally at Walmart, where she retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Friend R. Moe; her parents, Harold and Odella Johnson; her sisters, Judy Euler and Mary Harebo; her brother, Butch Johnson; her grandson, Hans Moe; and many special friends.
Karen is survived by her son, Robert (Mikael) Moe; her daughter, Della (Dean) Mickelson; grandchildren Heather (John) Storey, Heidi, Hannah, Bobbie, Jordan, Hailey (Carson) Christensen, Laura (Dave) Steele, Melissa (Marty), Kristen, Melanie, and Dean; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Karen will be remembered for her love of family, her warm spirit, and the joy she found in life’s simple moments. Her stories, laughter, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 30th, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #52, 711 6th Street S. La Crosse WI 54601. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

I worked with Karen at Anthony’s Department Store in The Village many years ago when I was in high school and she was a sweet, kind, & all-around lovely lady. I enjoyed seeing her at Walmart later on & she was still as beautiful as ever. I hope I’m as lucky!
So sorry for your loss. Karen was a wonderful lady and friendly to everyone she met. I worked with her ar Walmart and she was a pleasure to see everyday. Prayers coming your way.

I was blessed having her as a kind neighbor, and a loving friend! I will miss her kindness, smile, laughter and Cookies!

Sorry for the loss of your beautiful mom and grandmother !! She would light up a room with her smile and kindness I worked at magic mirror with her she’s a delight and I loved her dearly she was like my mom and friend was so kind as well!! RIP KAREN !! U will ve truly missed
