Karen Jean Sorenson
Karen Jean Sorenson of Viroqua passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. She was born on April 15, 1942 to Floyd and Ethel Best. She married Lloyd Sorensen on November 16, 1963. They were married for 40 years until Lloyd’s death on May 27, 2004.
Karen cared deeply for her family and expressed her love for them often. One of her joys she shared with her husband was planting a large garden that they diligently took care of to grow and preserve the harvest. They also enjoyed sharing the abundance with others. She loved exploring the woods with her granddaughters and sharing her enthusiasm for nature and wild edibles with them. She also taught her children and grandchildren to value life and to be kind and respectful to animals and humans alike. She was especially fond of her home on Lower Maple Dale because of the unique setting and array of flowers and wildlife. Karen was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had the utmost love and respect for God’s Word the Bible and enjoyed sharing its message with others.
Karen is survived by her children Sandra (Allen) Peltier of Viroqua, WI; Kevin Sorenson of Viroqua, WI; grandchildren Eliza (Charles) Agboyibo of Austin, MN; Sarah Peltier of Ames, IA; sisters Shirley Sandvick of DeSoto, WI, Beverly (Jim) Jordan of Ontario, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by brother Lonnie Best and her husband Lloyd Sorenson.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Vernon Manor for the care that was given to Karen in the last years of her life.Visitation will be held Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, E 7352 County Rd Y Viroqua, WI, from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM, followed by a service at 3:00 PM. Mark Riesebieter officiating.
