Kathleen “Kathy” Mary Schmieder
Kathleen (Kathy) Mary Schmieder, age 70, of Onalaska, WI passed away on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at Gundersen Health System of La Crosse.
Kathy was born in Winona, MN on October 4th, 1951 to Bernard and Anastasia (Brady) Smith. She graduated from Winona State College in Winona, MN with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1973. She worked for Quillin’s IGA and later Festival Foods for over 40 years. She also worked as a CNA in homecare for many years.
Kathy married Dennis J. Schmieder on September 10th, 1977, and they had two children. She was a wonderful mother that was always there when her family needed her. She was also a devoted friend and had many life-long friendships. She was active in the community as a part of Quillin’s Hometown Kids and Girl Scouts. She loved calligraphy, cooking, gardening, and crafting.
Kathy is survived by her husband; two children, Joshua Schmieder of Verona, WI and Charissa Schmieder of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Darlene Luedtke of Winona, MN and Joan East of Stewartville, MN; one brother, Gary (Janine) Smith of Winona, MN; two brothers-in-law Donald Schroht of Owatonna, MN and Paul Schmieder of Sparta, WI; two sisters-in-law Sandra (Ron) Hanson of Hinsdale, IL and Linda Schmieder of Sparta, WI; and 16 nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Smith; sister, Nancy Schroht; and brothers-in-law Kenneth Luedtke and Stanley East; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Haldorson; step-father-in-law, Gerald Haldorson; and father-in-law, Paul Schmieder.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, February 6th, 2022 from Noon to 4:00 pm at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, 1433 Rose St., La Crosse.
