Maevella Marie Peterson “Mae”, 46 years young, passed away on October 20th, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System- La Crosse.

She was born on December 15th, 1976 in Killeen, TX to Rodney and Deanna Peterson. After being in Texas where her father was stationed for the first 2 years of life, she then moved back to La Crosse, WI where her parents are from and lived the rest of her life in the La Crosse area.

Mae had two children, Ariel and Quentin. She was a supportive and caring mother.

Mae was a free spirited soul. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was blessed with a few great life-long friends to have by her side. She loved spending time outdoors. She also loved crafting, shopping, and music (especially listening to live music). She was a huge animal lover and they always held a special place in her heart. She was intelligent and fierce in all that she did.

After many challenging years, Mae’s struggle with addiction is over and she is at peace.

Mae is survived by her mother Deanna (Jeff) Schirm, daughter Ariel Moe (Lucas Anderson), son Quentin Hutzenbuehler, grandchildren Adelynn and Brayden, great-aunt Linda Greeno, grandfather Darrel (Lynette) Greeno. Lifelong friends Jackie Miller, Angel Benrud, and Kim Hasz.

Mae was preceded in death by her father Rodney Peterson, grandparents Cecil and Leda Peterson, great grandparents Lyle and Emily Greeno, as well as her beloved dogs Miley, Roscoe, and Fozzy.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse for their care of Mae. Special thanks to the ICU staff for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial’s preferred to the family for burial expenses.

Mae’s burial will be private with family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 from 12:00pm-4:00pm  at Hillbilly’s Bar on French Island.
