Mark Donald Pretasky

June 1, 2018 | 6 comments

Mark Donald Pretasky passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018.  He was born on April 11, 1958, the youngest child of Thomas and Marian Pretasky.  They both preceded him in death.  He is lovingly survived by his fiancé, Diane Payne; his sisters, Barbara Wolff and Karen Pretasky; and his brother Tom Pretasky.  He is also survived by other family members as well as a daughter, Crystal Butterfield and many dear friends.  Mark will always be remembered for his soft heart and as a loyal friend.

Mark attended Holy Trinity Grade school and graduated from Aquinas in 1976. He has kept the circle of friends he graduated with as well as many friends from Sam’s Bar, the old Howie’s Hof Brau, Koebl’s Bar and the Bohemian Hall gang.  Mark loved the river and knew it as well as anyone could.  He helped a lot of people who broke down on the river in the past 50 years. He was employed by Culligan in the early years, the Rubber Mill for many years and the Laborers Union Local 140.

“Muskrat” loved fishing, hunting, and trapping which earned him the nickname “Muskrat”. He was a good friend to everyone who met him and would help anyone.  He threw excellent game feeds and was a member of the Badger Sports Club.  He will be missed by a lot of people who hunted and fished with him.  He took a piece of everyone’s heart that knew him and we are all very saddened by his leaving.  God Bless “Muskrat”.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 11AM to 1PM at the American Legion Post 52 on 6th and Market St in La Crosse.  Burial will follow at 1:45PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, MN.  There will be a memorial boat run on Sunday June 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. to say good-bye to Mark. Will meet at the 7thStreet Boat Landing.
Rest in peace Dear Mark.

Condolences
