Marvin Elmer Manske, age 70, of La Crosse, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 at Bethany St. Joseph in La Crosse.

He was born on November 28th, 1947 to Elmer and Adeline (Beitlich) Manske.  He married Nancy Hecker on May 28th, 1976 in La Crosse, WI.

After graduating from Luther High School in 1965, he began working in the mailroom for First National Bank (later changed to Norwest and then Wells Fargo).  Over the course of 42 years, he developed many lifelong relationships throughout the community and finished his career as the Vice President of Private Banking.  During this time, he also served in the US Army Reserves for 28 years, finishing as a Master Sergeant, and volunteering for various community organizations such as the Rotary, Jaycees, and Crime Stoppers.  He was also an active member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as a head usher, participating on many committees, and holding different office positions.

He was always the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren and rarely, if ever, missed one of the games or activities they were involved in.  He also served as a coach in the Shelby Youth Baseball and the Vietnam Vets Baseball organizations.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, was an avid Packers and Brewers fan, and enjoyed golfing and boating at their condo in Holcombe, WI.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons Paul (Teresa) Manske, Chad (Kristine) Manske, and Jared (Carmen) Manske; grandchildren Tiffany, Brandon, Camron, Zoey, Wyatt, Lydia, Conrad, and Amarah; sister Charlotte; twin brother Myron (Ann) Manske; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Pauline.

Thank you to the staff at Bethany St. Joseph for their care during his stay. In lieu of flowers or plants, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West Avenue South, La Crosse.  Pastor Roger Sachs will officiate.  Visitations will be held on Sunday, November 11th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Coulee Region Cremation Group in the Prairie Room, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

I worked for/with Marv for several years at Norwest Bank in the loan department. He was a great supervisor and became a friend quickly. I will miss seeing him and didn’t know he had
been confined to Bethany; last time I saw him was at a reunion of bank employees. My sincere sympathies to his family.
