April 8, 2026 | 8 comments

Maureen Frances Blomquist, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday, the holiest day, surrounded by her loving family. An abundance of love was present as she said goodbye.

Maureen was born on January 29, 1945, to her mother, Helen Josephine Zoll. She grew up alongside her siblings: Jim Walters (Barb), Diane Walters, Debbie Walters (Susan), and Danny Walters (Sandy).

She dedicated many years of her life to Century Telephone, where she formed lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply. Those who knew Maureen will remember her as a strong and resilient woman with a great sense of humor. She loved to joke and brought laughter to those around her.

Maureen found joy in life’s simple beauties, flowers, birds, and the colors of nature. Above all, she treasured time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She shared three children, Diane Oliver (Brian), Joshua Smith, and Wayne Smith, with her husband Gene Smith, and later welcomed her daughter Amber Blomquist with her second husband, David Blomquist. In her final months, Amber lovingly cared for her, and together they shared many precious and meaningful moments that will be forever cherished.

Her grandchildren were especially dear to her heart, including Hannah Johnson, lovingly called “Hannah Belle,” and her beloved grandson Collin Hodgins, who meant more to her than anything in this world. She also held a special place in her heart for her granddogs, Jax and Pepper.

Maureen will be remembered for her strength, her warmth, her humor, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her presence will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.

A celebration of Maureen’s life will be held at a later date.
