Michael Allen Hicke

October 25, 2023 | 3 comments

Michael Allen Hicke, age 68, of Holmen, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023. He was born on December 4, 1954 to parents Kermit and Patricia Hicke.  He married Laurie Ellen Knight on August 4, 1984 at La Crosse Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his loving family: his wife Laurie (Knight) Hicke; their daughters, Ashley (Nick) Anker, Lauren (Chris) Kachel; sister, Jaye Hicke; sister-in-law ,Rebecca (Greg) Wilson; niece, Nicole (Steve) Brudos; nephew, Rick (Beth) Wilson;  brother-in-law, Bill (Deb) Woslum, Dan (Jana) Woslum; niece Toni (Ben) Johnson, Devon Woslum; nephew, Will Woslum;  along with several great nieces and nephews.  Mike was particularly close to his cousins Debbie (Bruce), Mathison, Diane (Mike) Hubbard.

Mike had a great love and appreciation for the outdoors that he passed on to his family. They all enjoyed time on the river whether it be on a sandbar grilling , fishing, sitting in a duck blind or ice fishing. But Mike’s greatest passion was hunting, especially with his family and friends. He loved to hunt pheasant, squirrel, duck, turkey or deer. Many memories were made over the years. When Mike wasn’t hunting or fishing, if the sun was shining, you can better believe Mike was laying in the sun nurturing that cocoa brown tan while listening to a Brewer game or Rock and Roll on the radio!

Mike also enjoyed riding our horses and camping with friends and (framily). He loved traveling many places to equestrian camps all over the Midwest and as far as South Dakota.  Mike also loved our extended family and all the great times made during our gatherings.  Mike will be remembered for his love of family, his animals, his great sense of humor and even better dance moves.  Mike had the blessings of walking his daughters down the aisle.  He developed wonderful, close relationships with his sons-in-laws, Nick and Chris and was fortunate to know his young grandson, Tate Michael.

Being people of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are deeply grateful Mike is no longer suffering as he is free from his earthly body. We rely on God’s promise that in our faith we will all be together, again, one day in heaven.

Preceeded in death: Grandparents Herman (Ida) Hicke , Walter  (Verona) Delaney.  Parents Kermit and Patricia Hicke. Aunt Carol Koelbl;  Uncle John (Jack) Delaney;  Aunt Mavis (Don) Koelbl and Cousin, Sarah (Mathison) Hanson.

Family would like to extend a thank you to: Mayo 9 Center in La Crosse,  all of the doctors, nurses, and caretakers and their excellent care

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a short christian service at 1:00 pm  at the Holmen Area Community Center, 600 North Holmen Dr., Holmen, WI.
