Michael “Big Mike” Nelson

Michael “Big Mike” Allen Nelson, age 70 of Blair, WI passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2021.

He was born on September 8, 1950 to Carl and Ruth (Tranberg) Nelson. Mike spent his time working on old tractors and was a member of the Trempealeau County Tractor Club. He also enjoyed trapshooting at the Blair Sportsman Club and was an avid hunter.

Mike was a very loveable guy. Anyone who knew him, also knew he loved dogs. He enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, and he also enjoyed being a member of the unofficial Rainbow Breakfast Club.

Mike spent many years with McHugh Excavating and Plumbing, and was a member of Labor Union Local 140.

Mike is survived his wife, June; son Dennis (Shana) Nelson; brothers Steven (RaeDelle) Nelson and Rick (Lisa) Nelson; sister-in-law Tina (Barry) Beiles; grandchildren Raena and Kaitlynn Nelson; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Bill and Lucille Swanson; and sister Ruth Ann (Tuti) Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Blair Sportsmen’s Club: N30535 Quarne Rd, Blair, WI 54616.

A celebration of life for Big Mike will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Blair Sportsmen’s Club, starting at 11am.

    I will miss Mike. He would always come and get me when I was younger and too drunk to drive. He was the best. One time Tuti told me she tried to wake him up for breakfast and he said in his sleep, “I have to take Jennifer home first”. Truly a good guy.
