Michael (Matt) Mattison
Michael (Matt) Mattison of Onalaska passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026.
He was born May 10, 1938, to Stanley and Bernice Mattison in La Crosse.
He was a graduate of the Central Class of 1957 and met his future wife Donna Hamilton a couple of years later. He joined the Army in 1960 and was a proud Army veteran. He and Donna married December 2, 1961, and were stationed around the US during his enlistment. They were married for 64 years.
He was a hard worker, employed by Norplex 38 years along with his other part time jobs. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Badger football and Nascar racing. He was a collector of coins and beer memorabilia. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Donna, daughter Mona (Rick) Grandall, grandson Erick (Brianna) Grandall, great grandchildren Everlee and Rhys Grandall. He is further survived by other family members: sisters Sharron Modahl, Marsha (Aaron) Alens, Lori (Mike) Fitzpatrick and Gretchen; and brothers-in-law Al Wrobel and Donald Paul. He was known lovingly to his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as Uncle Mickey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry, sisters Mary Ellen Deringer, Gloria Engler, Jane Wrobel and Marian Paul.
Per Mike’s request there will be no funeral services. Private burial will be at a later date in Farmington Cemetery, Mindoro.
