Michael Maurice Parker, 74, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020 at home with his wife by his side.

He was born on March 1, 1946 to Alton Parker and Dorothy Davis. He married Ellen (Rhomberg) Nordstrom Parker on February 14, 1997 in New Orleans.

Mike loved smoking meat, spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and canoeing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he was a very easy-going man with a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful friend who would give the shirt off his own back; he was a gentle, kind soul. Mike enjoyed traveling and visiting family across the country.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Rhomberg) Nordstrom Parker; sons, Michael Stephen Parker, Peter (Elizabeth) Michael Parker; step-sons, Wyatt (Liza) Scott Nordstrom; Richard (Lisa) Nordstrom, and Grant Nordstrom; step-daughters, Nikki (Dave) Nordstrom Weinberger and Joyce Elsroad; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Alton Parker Jr. and his mother, Dorothy (Davis) Lunsford.

Bless Gundersen Hospice for their extremely wonderful care.

Ellen, I’m so lucky to have met Mike through our exercise classes at the Onalaska Y and at our programs at the Black River Beach Center. He was a fun loving guy with a twinkle in his eye, and I loved the way he would tease me. I’m so sorry you lost your partner in life. God Bless.

I’m so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. My eyes are all watery right now. I know I haven’t seen much of you lately but you two were always in my thoughts. I will miss Mike and so will anyone who had ever met him.

Ellen, I am just shocked and saddened by Mike’s passing. He always made me smile with his wit and shenanigans. He will be truly missed. Take time to grieve and take care of yourself.

    Ellen,
I knew Mike was having some issues, but didn’t know more than that. Charles is gone and now Mike is gone. This is more than one needs to have to deal with in a fairly short period of time. Having the pandemic to deal with makes this an even more difficult time for you. I will get a note off in the mail when I can find the appropriate card. We venture out very little during this time. I walk every day, but avoid situations where interacting with people is necessary. God bless.
