Myrtle Joyce Roden, age 79, of La Crosse, Wisconsin passed away in Tomah, Wisconsin on Saturday February 17th, 2024.

Myrtle was born on June 17th, 1944 to Lila Slaback (Schneider) and Daniel Oxner in La Crosse Wisconsin. After graduating high school from La Crosse Central High she later went on to become a certified nurse assistant.

Myrtle married William Roden in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Myrtle and William went on to have four children Charlene Roden, Paul (Mandi) Roden, Barbara (Demetrius) Proudfoot and Teri Roden. Myrtle later divorced.

Myrtle later worked doing adult foster care and did in-home health care for adults with disabilities. Myrtle had a special place in her heart for her dear friend Kitty Mae who she cared for, loved and spent much time with. She enjoyed making crafts, playing cards, putting puzzles together and socializing with friends. Myrtle’s pet cat Sheena was her best friend and companion up until she went into a care facility in late 2023.

She is survived by Alice (Mike) Wall, June (Jenny) Lewis, Bonnie (Kent) Weiman, Randy (Robin) Schneider and Larry (Mary) Peterson.

Myrtle is preceded in death by brother John (Johnny) Schneider. Myrtle’s sister Alice also followed her to heaven the following day Sunday February 18th, 2024.

Myrtle has 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren which she took care of frequently and enjoyed every special moment with them.

Myrtle wished not to have services or a celebration but family will later gather and share her life of many great memories. Friends and family will be notified.
