Randal Joel Silha, 73, of Mindoro, passed away on April 7, 2021 at home in Mindoro, WI.

He was born on October 27, 1947 to Russ and Fran (Susag) Silha. Randal married Cheryl Oleske on July 20, 1974 in La Crosse, WI.

Randal’s hobbies included Lionel Trains, woodworking, and ballroom dancing, especially the Waltz. He graduated from North Dakota State University. He and his wife Cheryl enjoyed attending Vikings, Brewers, and Badgers games. He grew up in Bowman, ND on the Lazy JS Ranch. They raised Quarter Horses, Polled Herefords and sheep. Randal was known for his integrity, charisma, and his sense of humor; He could spin a yarn, a skill which he inherited from his father.

After Randy and Cheryl got married, they moved to Aberdeen, SD. He was a field editor for the Western Livestock Journal. He worked purebred cattle sales from the West Coast to the Midwest. In 1976, they moved back to Wisconsin and he was employed with Tri State Breeders as a district manager. Later, he became the beef programs manager for Tri State Breeders.

Then, four guys over coffee decided to take a new adventure and started Country Realty, and one by one, partners left, and Randy became the sole broker and owner until health complications arose. Randy was able to be at home for his remaining time here on Earth. He cherished having breakfast with his buddies for over 30 years and talking sports and fantasy football.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.

Dear Cheryl: I’m so sorry to hear about Randy’s death. I was in the same class in high school and he was my first cousin. He was always so nice to me and I so appreciated his humor.

We have great, fun memories of sharing a road trip with Randy to Bowman a few years back. A lot of yarn spinning on that trip! We can picture a lot of that happening in heaven about now too! Thanks for the memories dear cousin.

Cheryl, Randy was a one of a kind. We loved it when he came to visit! He would put all of us, especially Dad in stitches. We loved it when he and Dad reminisced about their childhood and college life. He was always classy in his dress (ironing his jeans); telling jokes; playing baseball with us; and even helping paint fences. He will be missed by all of us.

Though I had not seen him in years, I will always remember the last time I saw him because of his incredible sense of humor. He was one of those people who made high school a rewarding experience.
