Rebecca “Becky” Erickson

January 30, 2025 | 21 comments

Rebecca Ann Erickson passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Becky, (as she was known by those who knew her), was reached, and saved by God while listening to the Gospel being preached from the text found in Mathew 11:28, “Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” As she would often explain what happened at her conversion, she would say that she understood that she indeed was a sinner in the sight of God and that God was aware of her and knew everything about her and yet God still loved her and sent His only begotten Son into the world to pay for her sins by shedding His blood and dying on the cross. Upon believing God’s promise in this verse, Becky trusted the Lord Jesus Christ by faith in Him as her own personal Savior. Becky was ten (10) years old when this happened on January 23, 1966. From that moment on, Becky committed herself to serving God with “every breath of her life”. When Becky was in high school, she understood the importance of worshipping God and serving Him. She studied the scriptures to find out the pattern of how to do this. She joined herself to the fellowship of the La Crosse Assembly (now meeting at 1928 George St in La Crosse, WI) and faithfully lived her life for her Lord Jesus Christ. Becky was joyful, kind, gentle, selfless, caring, supportive, devoted, hospitable and generous. Becky knew her Bible well and was an active teacher of the scriptures in her home and at Sunday School. Becky was a faithful teacher of young people and children her entire life of service in God’s assembly.

Becky was joined in marriage to Calvin Erickson on November 1, 1986. For over thirty-eight (38) years they lived in joy and harmony with a united purpose of heart. They sought to always do good unto others. Over the years, they were blessed in the taking of individual young family members and/or Christians to live as residence in their home and would “shepherd” them as they would be going to university or starting to project their own lives in society. Becky was a “mother” and a “friend” to all. The uniqueness of her personality and faithfulness” is a sweet-smelling savor of Christ” unto her heavenly Father and to all who knew her.

Becky graduated with a Masters Degree in Education from the University of La Crosse-WI. Her entire professional career was spent as a Special Education teacher and later, the Special Education Director at De Soto Area Schools. Throughout her career, God used her to benefit and bless her students and the staff she worked with. “She went about doing good”. Many of them have kept in contact with Becky up until her passing.

Becky was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ramon Prieur and Rhea Prieur. She is survived by her husband and her children and their spouses and her grand-children and siblings, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Her children’s families:

 Caleb and Kelsey Erickson, children Judah and Levi

 Jeremy and Emily Erickson, children Sofie, Finn, Evie and Milo

 Shanna and Gary Collins, Children Callie, Adam and Luke

Her siblings and their spouses:

 Eunice and Chris Christensen, Pam and David Eilertson, Jackie and David Osborne

 Larry and Anita Prieur, Lynette and Dr. Bee Lo, with many nieces and nephews.

    All are precious.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 05, 2025 at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street Onalaska, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The La Crosse Assembly and mailed to Cal Erickson at 2215 George St., La Crosse WI 54603.  The proceeds will be used for the local youth outreach program.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.

Becky will be greatly missed. She took the time and effort to teach me the scriptures from a young age and invested her time to make sure I understood the Word of God clearly. Her life was an incredible testimony to those around her. To the family: I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

This is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman. I’d love to seeing the picture of Becky as a young woman, the woman I remember most. I also love the picture of the woman I talked to at our class reunion. May she rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear of Becky’s passing. Becky was a great friend to me when I was saved shortly after high school and during our college years We went to conferences together, took trips together, and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. Becky was such a help to everyone that knew her and her sudden passing leaves a void in the lives of everyone that knew her. Praying for her family at this time, especially Cal, Caleb, Jeremy and Shanna and their families that you will be comforted with the loss of a wife, mother, and grandmother

Though the timing for such tragedy is never good for us, the Lord’s timing is always perfect. Our faith in His word tells us that is true. Dear God, we give you thanks for what you have given us; we give you thanks for what you have taken away; and we give you thanks for what we have left. May the blessing of His grace and consolation be with your family and strengthen you, specially at this time. And Cal, may your recovery be rapid and complete as prayers are raised up for your healing.

I am so sorry to hear of Becky’ s passing. She was a sweet friend. Many memories flooded my mind last night as I thought about the times Becky and I had spent together. Our friendship began at Gringos, or was it Casa Del Taco? At one point the restaurant we worked at had a name change. I remember meeting all of her family at one point or another. I thought it was through Becky that I met James Tempte, who gave Doug and I a beautifully engraved Bible as a wedding gift in 1980, which I have always treasured. I remember visiting her parents home on Hwy 35 in Onalaska, before it was torn down and the duplex built. Many memories…taking care of Caleb when he was just a baby. That was when I was a stay-at-home mom, before I got my teaching job at Northern Hills Elementary in Onalaska. I remember the trip we took together to Australia in 2007 as teacher leaders for the Student Ambassador Program… The last time I saw Becky was at Valley View Mall. We met again, by chance, or possibly God’s design and I was (after 5 1/2 years of being a widow) excitedly telling her about the wonderful man I had met. Mark and I married in 2016 and I moved to Saint Charles, MN. I think Becky and Cal were planning on making a move around that time. I thought it was a move to Colorado, but perhaps that wasn’t the case. Anyway we lost contact. We had many things in common, but the greatest bond was our shared love for the LORD. I wished I could attend her memorial service, but I lead a Bible study on Wednesday mornings and would not be able to make it to Onalaska in time to attend. You have my love and my prayers! She will be greatly missed. Love in Christ. Gretchen

    Cal & Family,

Sending warm sympathy in the sudden earthly loss of Dear Becky. She will be missed deeply in the home and assembly. Thankful for all she did for the Lord in her life down here in helping others. A lost art these days it seems. May you be comforted in the Love of the Savior as she has gone to a far better place.
