Reinald (Reiny) Kammel was called to heaven to be reunited with his high school sweetheart, Dar, and his children, Timmy and Karen, on Friday, December 29, 2023.

Reiny was born to Rudie and Lucy Kammel on March 14,1935. He attended Aquinas High School and graduated in 1953. Reiny and Dar were married July 6, 1955.

Reiny was born a farmer.  He loved being a farmer. He farmed his entire life, though not always for himself. He was a farmer at heart until the end. He also worked at the Company Store and Fransican Skemp.

Reiny was proud to be a Charter member of the St. Joseph Ridge Lions Club. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and sharing breakfast with family and friends at the Barre Diner.

Reiny and Dar were blessed with seven children.  Michael (Clarice) Kammel, Cindy (Douglas) Hatch, Sue (Jim) Davis, Timmy, Karen (Willy) Williams, Karla (Nick) Servais, and Chuck (Chris) Kammel.

He is survived by his children, his sister Marce (Syl) Liebl, and in-laws, Jerry Hegenbarth (Lorraine Miller), Patricia Kammel, and Dorothy Hegenbarth, along with eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Reiny was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene just eight short months ago, his daughter, Karen, and son, Timmy, as well as his brothers, Gerald, Eugene, Donald, and Kenneth, and sisters, Marian Roesler and Evelyn Mikshowsky, and many in-laws and dear friends.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Ridge Parish on Thursday, January 4th, 2024. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 until 11:45 a.m. with mass to begin at noon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Joseph Ridge Lions Club, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 4550 Montgomery Ave Suite 11100 n, Bethesda, MD 20814 or your favorite charity in Reiny’s name.

Our deepest sympathies to Reiny and Darlene’s family. Both Reiny and Darlene were always so kind and friendly towards us, which was so appreciated as we were newcomers to the area. We loved them both very much.

Reiny was such a joy to work with at The Company Store. He always told great stories and was so proud to bring Darlene’s sauerkraut hotdish when we invited him to join in on a pot luck. He was a great man. To those that loved him, May you find comfort and peace in the stories you share and memories you hold in your heart.
Pam Strittmater. Todd, Ben and Becky, too.

Deepest sympathies to Reiny’s family. I worked at the Company Store when Reiny did. Our departments were both in the basement- maintenance and the sample department. It was always a pleasure to see him and we talked many times, probably daily. He will be missed.
